IRCC to Accept 10,000 Applications for Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship in 2025

Ottawa, July 16, 2025 – Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has confirmed it will accept up to 10,000 complete sponsorship applications under the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) for 2025.

Starting July 28, 2025, invitations to apply will be sent out over a two-week period to selected potential sponsors.

Those who submitted an interest to sponsor form in 2020 but have not yet received an invitation are encouraged to check the email address they used at that time, including junk and spam folders, as invitations will be sent electronically.

Due to the large number of submissions still in the 2020 pool, IRCC will continue to draw from that group and will not open a new interest to sponsor form for this year.

Individuals who receive an invitation can submit their sponsorship applications online through the Permanent Residence Portal or the Representative Permanent Residence Portal, depending on their situation.

Those not selected in 2025 are encouraged to explore the super visa option for their parents or grandparents. A super visa is a long-term, multiple-entry visa valid for up to 10 years, allowing visits of up to five years at a time, with the option to extend for up to two additional years without leaving Canada.

If you receive an invitation to apply under the Parents and Grandparents Program, contact Foothills Immigration right away. With over 15 years of experience and thousands of successful permanent residency applications, we know exactly how to navigate the process and ensure your case is handled with care and precision. Let us help you bring your loved ones to Canada — you're in trusted hands with Foothills.
